It is with great honour and humility that I assume the presidency of the Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association (MFMA). Since its establishment in 1978, MFMA has been steadfast in its commitment to promoting and advancing the growth and development of Malaysia’s footwear industry, with the aspiration of positioning Malaysia as the “Shoe City of Asia.” At the same time, we remain dedicated to creating value for our members and safeguarding their interests.

As an industry association representing a diverse and dynamic community of footwear industry players, MFMA serves as an important platform for members to access the latest information on industry trends, market developments, technologies and designs. We also strive to facilitate new business and trade opportunities, encourage innovation, and support our members in enhancing their competitiveness and achieving sustainable growth.

Our commitment to promoting Malaysia’s footwear industry extends beyond our members. From 2010, MFMA took a proactive step by jointly organising the Malaysia International Shoe Festival (MISF). The festival was established as an international platform to showcase the quality, creativity and capabilities of Malaysian footwear to both local and international audiences. Since its inception, MISF has received tremendous support and encouraging participation from industry players, designers, business partners and visitors from Malaysia and abroad.

Another important focus of MFMA has always been the development of local talent and the nurturing of the next generation of footwear designers and entrepreneurs. In 2000, we initiated the Malaysia Footwear Design Competition (MyFDC) with the aim of discovering and cultivating home-grown design talent and encouraging more young designers and aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue opportunities within the footwear industry. We believe that developing local talent is essential to ensuring the long-term sustainability, creativity and competitiveness of our industry.

Today, MFMA is proud to have members from across Malaysia, representing the strength and diversity of our national footwear industry. Our Management Committee and working teams comprise dedicated individuals who share a deep passion for the industry and generously contribute their time, expertise and experience for the benefit of our members.

Looking ahead, we will continue to strengthen MFMA as a united and progressive platform for the industry. We are committed to providing our members with greater support, stronger industry linkages, new business opportunities and international connections, enabling Malaysian footwear businesses to expand their presence and spread their wings globally.

We warmly welcome footwear manufacturers, industry players, designers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders who share our vision to join MFMA and become part of our growing community. Together, we can build a stronger, more innovative and internationally competitive Malaysian footwear industry.

Finally, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all our members, partners and industry stakeholders for your continued confidence, trust and support. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as President, and I look forward to working closely with all of you as we move forward together.
